PADI OWSI – Open Water Scuba Instructor Course

Are you a Assistant Instructor? Who want’s to become an Instructor? Then the Open Water Scuba Instructor Course is for you. 

As a Assistant Instructor you know that the Instructor Development Course is split into two section’s, the Open Water Scuba Instructor Course is the second part. As a Assistant Instructor you have many duties of which some include teaching some PADI program’s, becoming a PADI Open Water Instructor means that you will beable to teach entry level PADI program’s right up to PADI Divemaster.

Our OWSI Course 

During your OWSI program you will successfully complete 18 curriculm presentation’s that will be presented by our Course Director or by one of his experienced staff instructor’s at the Dive center. During your classroom session’s you will present at least 1 knowledge development presentation, 2 confined water and 1 open water intergrating two skill’s. During your course you will practise many of these before your Instructor Examination. During your confined water sessions you will demonstrate competence at performing all dive skills listed on the skills evaluation list aswell as a 800metre snorkel, this one is not timed. In open water you will repeat the rescue assessment from the PADI Divemaster course. Beofre completing your program you will complete a standards exam which is an open book exam with your instructor manual and complete the five dive theory exams.

Prerequisite for Instructor Examination 

A prerequisite for the Instructor Examination is to be an Emergency First Response Instructor. During this course you will build upon your skill as an Emergency Responder and focus on developing your instructional abilities to teach these skills to others. The Instructor course provides you with additional training necessary to teach the Emergency First Response primary (CPR), secondary care (first aid) Care for Children and CPR and AED courses. Through independent study, classroom sessions and practical teaching assignments, you will learn how to conduct Emergency First Response courses.  

I.E – Instructor Examination 

The I.E is conducted over two days and will be held at a location in the Uk. During these two days you will be evaluated by a PADI examiner on your knowledge development, confined water and Open Water presentations and dive theory. You must attend an I.E to qualify as a PADI Instructor.    

Prerequisites for Open Water Scuba Instructor

  • PADI A.I or leadership level current with an approved organization for at least six months.
  • 18 years old
  • Medical exam form signed by a physician within the last 12 months
  • 100 logged dives
